What to Expect

What is a root canal?

Why might I need additional treatment?

Why is follow-up so important?
Why not just pull the tooth?
What can I expect during treatment?

During your visit, you will have your problem diagnosed to determine whether or not a root canal is necessary. At that time, we will perform a number of tests including x-ray examination.

If a root canal is necessary, the diseased pulp will be removed, the canal will be flushed out with solutions designed to clean the area thoroughly, then dried with special absorbant paper points.

Once completely dried, the root will be permanently filled with material that will help to keep the canal intact, hopefully, for years. You will have a temporary filling placed within the tooth and will be referred back to your general dentist for a permanent filling or crown.
